Twitch to ban streams with 'prolonged focus' on private parts

Twitch rotates in and out of the headlines on a monthly basis. The popular streaming site has once more changed its rules for content creators.

The new rules state that content that focuses on intimate body parts for a prolonged period will not be allowed.

It was announced on the company's official Twitch support account on X.com (formerly Twitter) earlier today that the previously in place rules would be changing, "Content on Twitch is always evolving, and we want to make sure our rules work as intended and keep up with emerging behaviors," the streaming giant said in their post.

Twitch infamously launched its pools, hot tubs, and beaches category in May of 2021; this new policy update means many creators within that category may need to focus on alternative content to continue making money.

Previously, the Twitch rules for nudity were a bit more relaxed, "Our intention with the Sexually Suggestive policy was to draw a line on content that is overtly or explicitly sexually suggestive, not to ban all content that could be viewed as sexually suggestive–but we acknowledge that our rules are not as clear as they could be." This statement accompanied the launch of the pools, hot tubs, and beaches category.

Several comments under the post chastise the company over the rules punishing the many due to the actions of a few. One user even suggested Twitch sent messages to those abusing the rules asking them to stop "or make the website 18+".

The Amazon-owned platform previously had to address how it tackled child grooming and This is all on top of the CEO of Twitch admitting that the company isn't profitable.
