Breakdown

  • Rockstar has raised prices for its GTA subscription service
  • GTA+ gives players access to a small library of games and some GTA Online goodies
  • The service is expected to continue when GTA 6 releases

The bizarre Grand Theft Auto subscription service GTA+ has seen its monthly price increased by 40%.

Created by developer Rockstar Games, GTA+ is an extremely limited subscription service that gifts customers with a “rotating assortment” of the studio’s video games. Furthermore, GTA Online players get access to extra cars and cash.

GTA+ is only available to be purchased on a monthly basis with no discounts for yearly subscribers. In the past, the subscription service cost just $5.99 / €5.99 / £4.99, but fans have now been hit with a 33%-40% price increase depending on the region.

The US version of the subscription service now costs $7.99, the European version costs €7.99 and the UK version costs £7.99.

While the GTA+ subscription service isn’t awful for those who chase the GTA V weekly update, most gamers aren’t interested in the very limited library of Rockstar Games. For example, the current version of the service includes Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy and Red Dead Redemption on console and Liberty City Stories and Chinatown Wars on mobile.

Currently, GTA IV and its expansions and other Rockstar games like Manhunt are not available to play via the service. However, fans will gain access to Bully and L.A. Noire later this year. However, with services like Xbox Game Pass or even Ubisoft Plus offering larger content libraries and more recent games, there’s really no actual reason to buy GTA+.

However, with the Grand Theft Auto 6 release date currently getting closer and closer, fans may end up getting some sweet benefits for the new game. While not confirmed, the GTA+ subscription service is expected to be a part of the new game, is the service lasts that long.

With GTA 6 expected to have its own version of GTA Online, players should be able to get the same extra cash bonuses as they find in the online game’s current iteration. However, only time will tell us Rockstar will remember to give out new rewards in the near future.
