Breakdown

  • Rainbow Six Siege’s Kelly 087 skin has been praised for an awesome Easter egg
  • The new skin hides a reference to Halo Reach on the side of her shotgun
  • Fans are hoping for more Halo skins in the future such as Halo Reach’s Noble 6

Halo fans are eating well in Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege. After Master Chief joined the game as a skin for Sledge, John 117’s longtime Blue Team colleague Kelly 087 has joined the game as a skin for Frost.

A tweaked version of the character’s Halo 5: Guardians design instead of her current Infinite art style look, Kelly in Rainbow Six Siege dons her usual EVA helmet and her trusty M45 Tactical Shotgun.

However, fans have noticed a reference hidden on Kelly’s shotgun, one that mentions one of the most important moments in the long-running Xbox series’ lore: The Fall of Reach.

On the left side of Kelly’s Tactical Shotgun in Rainbow Six Siege, a small decal can be seen that reads “Remember Reach”. This scribble is one of the most important lines of propaganda in the Halo universe, a message used by the UNSC to unite marine forces against The Covenant.

In Halo lore, The Fall of Reach saw the UNSC’s main military planet glassed by The Covenant, blasted by hot plasma until rock turned to molten glass. In the current timeline of Halo Infinite, the planet’s surface is still mostly glass, years after the war with The Covenant ended.

Fans on the Halo subreddit have picked up on this little detail in Rainbow Six Siege, praising the multiplayer game for its attention to the games’ universe. For longtime fans, they’ll remember that this exact decal can be seen within Halo 5: Guardians for anyone using the Oathsworn Shotgun variant.

Unfortunately, the Kelly 087 skin bundle for Frost costs 2,160 Rainbow Six credits, around $20 of microtransactions. The Master Chief skin for Sledge cost the same amount of money when that released as well.

Nevertheless, fans are excited to see more Halo content come to the game in the near future with fans currently begging for a Noble Six skin to release in the game. (Personally, I think Jorge or Emile would be the better fit, but that’s just me.)
