Back to news

We’re delighted to announce that Gfinity will stream digital broadcasts of the Gfinity Elite Series esports tournaments exclusively on Facebook throughout 2018, starting immediately with the Gfinity Elite Series Season 3 in the UK.

Season 3 of the Gfinity Elite Series consists of eight weeks of live tournament action, including regular season and play-offs. Gfinity will also be producing bonus content including behind the scenes programming with teams and players, weekly match highlights and special guest appearances from outside the esports world. Pro footballer Adebayo ‘The Beast’ Akinfenwa will host Game-On FIFA 18; a magazine-style show which will air every Wednesday throughout the season.

You don’t need an account to watch, but those with an account can get involved with exclusive Gfinity Elite Series communities and player Q&As, take part in the live broadcast conversation, and share the biggest and best moments from Season 3.

The Gfinity Elite Series Season 3 is the first UK tournament to be streamed exclusively on Facebook. FIFA 18 is broadcast every Friday at 6pm GMT with Rocket League and Street Fighter following on Saturday at 10am GMT and 6pm GMT respectively. The entire tournament will be streamed every Friday and Saturday until 28th April.

Gfinity Elite Series Australia is not part of this agreement, and more news on the Australian Elite Series broadcast will follow soon.

Six new teams have joined the tournament: UNILAD Esports, Hashtag United, Fnatic, ARES, Nordavind and Team Vitality. Regular host Tom Deacon will return to the Gfinity Esports Arena in London to guide fans through the FIFA 18, Rocket League and Street Fighter V matches. For the first time, the teams have been split into two groups with the top three progressing to the knock-out stage to battle it out for their share of the £250,000 prize pool.

Neville Upton, CEO, Gfinity plc says: “Facebook is a leading global brand with over 2 billion people on the platform and this partnership brings to life their commitment to drive innovation and engagement in esports with their huge gaming community.  This pioneering deal will enable us to accelerate our plans for growth into new markets to reach our Gfinity World Series goal."

Patrick Chapman, manager of esports partnerships at Facebook, commented: “The Gfinity Elite Series has quickly established itself as one of the leading productions and innovative leagues in esports globally.  We are excited to welcome the Gfinity team and support them in their international expansion to build one of the most dynamic and exciting esports leagues in the world.”
