  • Now there are only 6 Nintendo Network players left
  • Pokémon Legends: Z-A will continue the XY hype

Pokémon is officially dead on the old Nintendo Network, as the last X and Y player has logged out of the JRPG. This means that there are only six players left on the old Nintendo Network, as they try in vain to keep the 3DS and Wii U online services alive.

On Twitter, GaffsNotLaffs has been reporting on the status of those who have managed to stay online in the now-deceased Nintendo Network. Some players were able to keep it alive for a bit longer, but those numbers are starting to die down. Amanda is one of those numbers, as this user has logged out of their 3DS for the last time.

GaffsNotLaffs says that Amanda was online in the Pokémon XY servers, so she was definitely playing one of those games before it shut down. We imagine that it must have been a lonely experience for them, as Amanda was the last player of these games.

Players who have a physical or digital copy of the 3DS Pokémon games will still be able to play through the main single-player campaign, so that’s no issue. However, it was always the post-game multiplayer that kept Pokémon fans coming back and many were hoping these 3DS titles would have stayed alive longer.

Nintendo shutting down the 3DS and Wii U servers was a sad, yet, unsurprising move from the company. Most fans have accepted that the Switch and its upcoming successor will be the main focus from here on out. Plus, some fans have already found a way to keep playing these games online through their own network, so it’s not all doom and gloom.

This isn’t the complete end for Pokémon X and Y, as the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A will be set in the same city. We’re still not sure how different this game is going to be when compared to Arceus, but the city setting should be fun. That game doesn’t come out till 2025, so it’s safe to assume it will be a cross-gen game.
