Ubisoft revealed they’re working on a remake of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time in 2020. However, fans may have to wait a little longer as the developer appeared to have restarted the project after changing studios in 2022.

Fans have been waiting for nearly four years from Ubisoft for an update to its reported Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. The only solid update the community had received was from May of 2022, where the developer is a change of studios from Pune and Mumbai to Montreal.

At that time, Ubisoft said it had passed an important milestone when it changed studios from the two Indian locations to the Canadian subsidiary. However, the announcement did not indicate how far it was into the remake’s development.

Ubisoft also indicated during the announcement that they would build on the progress achieved by the Pune and Mumbai studios. However, the opposite occurred after the major change that was facilitated.

Insider-Gaming reported that they’ve received an unofficial gameplay video from an unnamed source that revealed the true state of the Sands of Time remake. Given with the condition that it must not be made available to the public, the video reportedly shows the project totally rebooted and still in the early phases of development.

None of the features that were revealed by the gameplay trailer released in 2020 were found in the leaked video. The new content indicated that Ubisoft had restarted the writing, motion capture, and other vital processes.

The leaker also revealed that Yuri Lowenthal is no longer attached to the project as the voice behind the Prince of Persia. They, however, did not specify the reasons behind Lowenthal’s departure from the remake.

Ubisoft declined to make an official statement about the latest leak. Other sources indicate that there might be an official announcement in the near future.
